Spring/Summer Update at Rubis!
The 2026 season has already proved to be a busy and rewarding one here at Rubis Stud, and it hardly seems possible that we are already looking towards the second half of the year. As always, spring centred around foaling, with several exciting arrivals making their appearance. There is something special about seeing months of planning and anticipation rewarded with healthy foals, and we have been delighted with the quality and character shown by this year's youngsters. Competition début for Lucky Boy!
It is always a huge step in the progress of a young horse/pony , in the journey through their early career under saddle - the very first official cometition! Lucky Boy de Maïka, the 5yo old Welsh Cob / Section D stallion, made his début yesterday at the very prestigious 3 day show at Moncontour, Limoges, in the Cycle Classique Jeunes Poneys, 5 year olds. After only being under saddle for a few months, we felt that he was just ready to try his first official test, after weeks

Competition Season is underway!
We spent Easter Sunday at the OCEM Poitiers for the next step in the Amateur circuit challenge. "Golden Boy" aka Eclair du Peymol is currently 12th on the scoreboard in Amateur 3, following on from his round there in November last year. He jumped a lovely clear round in the morning in the Prépa 90 class, much more fluid and travelling than last time. In the afternoon he jumped a cracking round in the Amateur 3 Grand Prix and was so incredibly unlucky to have the very last fen

Happy Holidays!
We would like to wish you all a very "Merry Christmas" and a "Happy New Year 2026" We had a lovely , quiet family Christmas - the ponies and horses had carrots but apart from that, they continued with their usual routine so obviously thought it was a normal day like any other! 2026 is the Chinese Year of the Horse - which represents new beginnings and inspiration, amongst many other things. As we are always open to what inspires us, we really hope that the year brings some gr

Final Show of 2025 - Youngstock
The Youngstock Show is always the last in the calendar of shows for the year here - and this time it was held at the Haras National at Pompadour again, which is a fabulous venue. We took 3yo welsh B stallion, Hilin Dallas, and yearling section D colt, Orient Express de Maïka - for Dallas it is his last show as a youngster. It is always a bit more of an extra effort to go to this show because even though we were treated to a lovely day with regard to the weather, it is a diffi

Other Competitions
Since coming back from the National Welsh Show, we have been working hard at home and concentrating on the ridden horses and their competing. Now that all the imports have arrived from Wales, and all of our sold weanlings have left to join their new families, we have had more time to focus on the training side of things. Eclair du Peymol and Easy Rider have been out a few times, in CSO (showjumping) and Dressage respectively, both achieving pleasing and consistent results on
