Our first Regional Welsh show of the year!
It was so lovely to be back out showing again - at the end of the season you get tired and it seems like so much effort, but here we are back at it, fresh and ready to go again!
Held at the Parc Départmental de L'Isle Briand, Lion d'Angers - a fabulous show venue and setting that we have been to a few times before - and we just love it.
Although we haven't had these boys for very long, both of them are extremely special to us already and it was so lovely take them to this great competition centre, in the lovely park with the very elegant chateau.
They certainly put on a good show - as we thought that they might do.
"Dodger" , well, it's the job he loves to do, in the words of his previous owner - he was a dream to present as he knows his job so well. I have so much respect and love already for this super pony - for who he is above all, and for his quality and type. This section is quite unrepresented here in France and he was actually the only section C pony entered in the show! No surprise then that he won his section and was Champion section C - it would have been better if he had some competition but it was a great first outing for him here and gives us more time to get to know him in a show setting without pressure.
"Dallas" is young still, but so willing to work and listen - the judge said he is "so welsh, so much front on him already, a super pony, I really like him - I want to see him before me in the Supreme Championship". After winning his section, the lady judge then placed him 2nd Reserve Champion (?) which we, and I think our association, found a little confusing as that isn't usually done, but we were extremely happy with that.

I think it is that extra bit harder when showing a stallion - we have to be extra mindful of other ponies and people around us. There were mares there in season and our boys were just super well behaved the whole time - we couldn't be more pleased with them!
It was a super weekend - a long way to travel but totally worth it for once again, a good ambiance, to get back in the show ring again, meet up etc.
Thank you so much most of all to my husband who looked after all of the horses and dogs at home while we were away!!
