First of the Imports arrive!

Every year we like to bring weanlings and new lines in from other studs, mainly in the UK.
This has become increasingly more complicated and expensive due to the extensive administration procedures that were put into place after Brexit.
Ponies must now have a Coggins blood test before travelling and more rigorous health certification by vets before transport. There are then more checks and paperwork when they arrive at the designated ports in Europe.
Speaking to breeders on both sides of the Channel , this has affected sales of their ponies enormously as more people are finding the transport/import costs prohibitive.
We feel that is essential to import ponies into our stud, to try to ensure a constant influx of the best origins and quality that we can - we don't always keep every pony that we buy/import - sometimes we feel , that as they develop on from the weanling phase, that either they are not for us, or that they are better suited to another job in life.
Our first colt of 2025 arrived last night - Bronheulog Tomboy, from the Bronheulog Stud in Welshpool, Wales.
Almost 30 years ago we bought our first Bronheulog pony, a little black colt. We are over the moon with our latest arrival - already very big for 7 months old, he has lots of bone, great movement and is a very solid type.
We are looking forward to watching him grow up!
